I did not join this band willingly.
The first trip I ever took with the band was frustrating to say the least. Eric & Big Al woke me up & threatened to throw a Taco Bell burrito at me because I went to bed too early, the entire band made fun of my pants because they were too tight, and Big Al broke a belt loop on those same pants when he tried to give me a wedgie.
The next night at the show, I was handed a mandolin with no knowledge of how to play it, or any idea how to play the songs I was supposed to play with the band. I was left on my own to “figure it out”. Welcome to Easter Rising, sucker.
In the 5 years since, I’ve changed a ton. I’ve stopped going to bed earlier than everyone else, I’ve stopped wearing tight pants, and I kick anyone’s ass who tries to give me a wedgie. Most importantly, I’ve learned to love this band, and love every member as my own family. I wouldn’t trade this band for the world.
